Hi, I’m Brisa

I’m the florist and founder of Breezes Over Bloom. My husband Jake and I moved to Kelowna five years ago with our daughter and our energetic dog, Mitten. Before settling here, our family lived in several cities across Canada, from east to west.

We were drawn to Kelowna by its friendly people, beautiful surroundings, and wonderful climate. It felt like the right place for our family to put down roots and call home.

My floral journey formally began at Okanagan College, where I received professional training in floral design. Since then, I have continued to learn from different floral traditions. My work draws on the quiet elegance and thoughtful balance of Eastern aesthetics, while embracing the natural, expressive style of Western floral design. Breezes Over Bloom grew from this journey, together with my love of flowers, poetry, and creating meaningful gifts for people.

A Family Business, Close to Home

Breezes Over Bloom is very much a family business. I design and create each arrangement by hand. My husband Jake works at UBC Okanagan and, in his spare time, helps me with our website, orders, and local deliveries, and all the practical details behind the scenes.

Our daughter sometimes joins us at local markets with her handmade crochet creations, while our dog Mitten keeps us company in his own enthusiastic way.

Poet & Florist

I have loved poetry for many years. My bilingual poetry collection, Like a Flower / 美若, grew from my experiences of love, family, nature, and finding a new home between different cultures.

Poetry and floral design may seem different, but to me they come from the same place. Both offer a way to express feelings that are sometimes difficult to put into ordinary words. That same sensitivity now shapes the flowers I create for others.
